Glenn Irwin

One of three racing brothers from Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland, Glenn is from a racing family, which saw his father, Alan, a multiple champion as well as occasional Grand Prix racer. After a number of seasons in the support classes whereby after finishing runner-up in the 2011 National Superstock 600 Championship, he landed the British Supersport Cup Championship with ease in 2012, taking 12 wins on the way and claiming ninth overall in the British Supersport Championship. He repeated his ninth place finish in the series the following year before claiming fourth overall in BSS in 2014 with five wins and followed that up with fourth again in 2015 after a run of bad luck late in the season saw him miss out on a top three placing.

However, it was his debuts at his native pure road racing events in 2015 which brought a new dimension to Irwin’s career. Running at the front in the opening Supersport race at the North West 200, challenging the established master and fellow Carrick resident Alastair Seeley, before a mechanical problem forced him out but he bounced back in the second race, claiming an amazing podium finish around the nine-mile Causeway Coast track.

More heroics followed at the Ulster Grand Prix whereby once again he ran at the front, challenging the established stars around the ultra-fast Dundrod circuit to again come away with a double podium on his debut at the circuit just west of Belfast.

2016 saw him move up to the British Superbike class to make his debut with the experienced PBM Team and in his rookie year, he took two podiums on his way to 12th in the series standings. Remaining with the team for 2017, Glenn was a regular front runner in BSB and took a sensational victory in the North West 200 Superbike race. Injury then affected much of his season, but he bounced back to take a debut BSB win at Silverstone and ended up 12th in the final points table once again. He also won the Macau Grand Prix for a first time.
