Final Round Fling for Brookes and Sykes

Brands Hatch hosts the final round of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend with both MCE Riders Josh Brookes and Tom Sykes looking to end the season in style.

After a challenging season for Paul Bird’s eight times BSB champions, both Midlands-based Aussie Brookes and Yorkshire’s ex-World Superbike champion Sykes, are hoping to make amends for not making the championship-deciding Showdown with a good performance on their respective MCE Insurance-sponsored and factory supported Ducati Panigale V4Rs.

For Sykes, he’ll be hoping to continue the superb form from the last round at Donington Park where he romped to a double victory and was looking good to make it a treble when he was taken out by another rider when well placed in the third race.

Brookes, meanwhile, is one of the most successful riders around the Brands Hatch GP track where he has won an amazing 19 times in his long career, including claiming a double victory on his way to his second BSB title in 2020 for the PBM team.

Johnny Mowatt, Team Co-Ordinator: “It was great to get back to winning ways with Tom taking a double victory at Donington Park, after what has been a very tough season for us. It certainly boosted morale in the team so hopefully he can continue where he left off last time out. We have had lots of success with our riders over the years at Brands Hatch, including many wins with Josh, and he has worked so hard this season despite some issues, so hopefully he can be rewarded with a positive weekend. Both riders will be looking to end their season in style after a difficult season for us all. Meanwhile, our thoughts are with the friends, family, and team of Chrissy Rouse this weekend as we remember and pay tribute to one of the finest riders in the paddock, whom everyone at PBM knew and was proud to call a friend.”
